| EBRP Communications District Manager | | | | JOB CODE: | 123550 | | | | PAY GRADE: | 2270 | | | | SALARY RANGE: | $51,445 - $71,212 | | | | LOCATION OF WORK | | Emergency Medical Services | | | | GENERAL DESCRIPTION | | Under the direction of the EMS Administrator, performs highly responsible administrative work in the planning, development and operation of the Communications District. Work involves responsibility for monitoring and preparing annual budgets, division staffing, operating procedures and training standards. Direct supervision is exercised over the Telecommunications Chief of Operations, Emergency Communications Chief of Operations and other clerical staff. Performs other work as requested. | | | | ESSENTIAL WORK TASKS | | Directs and monitors through subordinate supervisors the activities of all divisions of the Communications District.
Reviews employment, salary, training and career development and disciplinary recommendations made by subordinate supervisors; makes recommendations to the EMS Administrator.
Prepares annual operating budget for approval by the EMS Administrator and monitors expenditures.
Ensures that citizen complaints against the Communications District are investigated and resolved.
Represents the EMS Administrator and Communications District at various seminars, meetings, workshops and trade shows; keeps abreast of current trends, procedures and equipment needed to maintain a high level of service.
Assists the EMS Administrator in fulfilling speaking engagements.
Attends Communications District Board Meetings and other user meetings as directed by the EMS Administrator.
Acts on behalf of the Communications District in the absence of the EMS Administrator.
| | | | | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES | | Knowledge of computer aided dispatch design as related to public safety and 911 systems.
Knowledge of 911 systems and equipment.
Knowledge of wire line and wireless telephone systems.
Knowledge of conventional and trunked radio systems.
Ability to plan, organize, schedule and monitor complex projects.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with public safety agencies and other city departments and employees.
Ability to coordinate the activities of public safety agencies and establish standards for operations of the Communications District.
Ability to apply good work habits such as punctuality, reliability, preciseness, and dependability in order to effectively complete assigned tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the department and division.
