Organization Overview
The East Baton Rouge Parish Emergency Medical Service is a Municipal service which originated on August 6, 1982. Baton Rouge EMS is the primary ACLS provider for the parish of East Baton Rouge. EMS is funded by a property tax and by insurance billing.

Services Provided by Baton Rouge EMS:

     · Basic Life Support
     ·
Advanced Life Support
     · Haz-Mat Team
     · Public Event Medical Coverage
     ·
S.W.A.T. Medic Program
     · Bike Medic Response Team
     · CISD Team

Number of response units:

     · 12 units operate during a 24 hour period.
     ·
7 units operate 24 hours
    · 5 units are up for 12 hours during peak hours
     ·
11 physical stations throughout the parish
     ·
Supervisor sprint vehicles also available

*all of the above are divided into (6) twelve-hour shifts with an average of (26) paramedics per shift throughout the coverage area providing a response time of (6) minutes or less.
