Chaneyville Community Center has been serving the residents of the
northeast section of East Baton Rouge Parish since 1985. We
offer a variety of services. The Center operates under the
guidance of the City of Baton Rouge and is one of five community
centers in the parish.

| General Information
Food Pantry: Opened daily and issue food boxes to
those in need.
Food For Families: Distribute monthly commodities
(40#) to eligible seniors and Moms with children under six years of
age and under.
VITA Income Tax Site: Prepare income taxes at no
charge for low-income families.
Quarterly Commodity Program: Issue surplus food four
times per year to approved households.
Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP):
Provide non-emergency utility payments once a year directly to company
for eligible clients.
FEMA: Emergency rent and mortgage payment once a year
to families facing eviction.
Clothing Distribution: Provide clothing monthly on a
first come basis to families.
CSGB: Assist with emergency utility, rent/mortgage
payments, food vouchers, and medications.
Toys for Tots: Participate annually in the
distribution of toys for area youth.
Holiday Baskets: Distribution of Christmas and
Thanksgiving boxes based upon availability.
Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner: Annual dinner for
senior citizens, sponsored by the Easy Risers Kiwanis Club.
Quilting Club: Diverse group of ladies meet three
times weekly making quilts.
Head Start Pick-up Site: Center serves as the
beginning and ending point for the are youngsters attending Port
Hudson Head Start.
Council on Aging (COA): Operates a senior site at our
center. General health evaluation (Blood-Pressure, Diabetes and
weight checks) performed weekly; Flu and Pneumonia shots and
Cholesterol screenings annually; and, congregate Meals are served
daily. Other weekly activities include games, exercise, holiday
parties, home-bound meals delivered, and computer classes will be in
the near future.
Meetings: Community meetings are scheduled as needed
at no cost.
Rentals: Scheduled upon request. Space also is
available for Dental or Medical offices.
General Information: The Chaneyville Community Center
is unique in that we serve clientele in a rural, not urban area.
Services can be as simple as looking up a telephone number or as
complicated as trying to help a family who lost everything. We
interpret and fill out papers, make referrals, answer questions,
pick-up medicine, and provide transportation when needed.
In addition to the above services and programs, we go the last mile to
help area residents anyway possible.
